Faith: A Song Of Cascades

To me, faith brings a cascade of blessings.  Good, bad or indifferent, these blessings are opportunities to receive God and His gifts meant for us through the Holy Spirit.

Faith, once discovered, is a realization of certainty in knowing God’s existence.  This is an extremely profound conception.  The act of choosing faith causes one’s will to deepen in movement to the well of God.  Faith is the breath of life.  Without oxygen, we can’t live.  We inhale this air with automatic certainty in its ability to give us sustenance.  Without faith, we forego our inherent truth, which is a gift given us by God, through the Holy Spirit and Its many blessing of life.

Faith is such a bright star.  When we embrace the call of faith, we embrace God.  This embracing is a commitment of divine respect in ourselves, to lift to the LORD in reverence, and put our trust in Him.

With faith in God, we can accomplish great things; things, we at first think are inconceivable.  Yet, in our youthful and latent relationship with God, we think this way because our faith is not yet strong enough to receive what the LORD would like to give us.

An excellent story of faith is revealed in the Christian Bible through the passage of Job.  God gives Job, a most righteous man, many, many blessings and then He takes these blessings away.  This journey for Job is a test of faith.  If Job had faith in God through the many blessings he was given, would he still have faith in God, if God gave him the blessing of strife instead?

In the passage of Job, God reveals Himself, and the difference between He and man.  The beauty of this whole passage is Job’s transition from the pain of loss, to the conception of understanding God, to his letting go of resistance, to his movement into forgiveness, as revealed in pieces of the scripture below.

Job 10: 1-7  Job Despairs Of God’s Dealings

I loathe my life;
I will give full vent to my complaint;
I will speak in the bitterness of my soul.
2 I will say to God, “Do not condemn me;
Let me know why you contend with me.
3 Is it right for You indeed to oppress,
To reject the labor of Your hands,
And to look favorably on the schemes of the wicked?
4 Have You eyes of flesh?
Or do You see as a man sees?
5 Are Your days as the days of a mortal,
Or Your years as man’s years,
6 That You should seek for my guilt
And search after my sin?
7 According to Your knowledge I am indeed not guilty,
Yet there is no deliverance from Your hand.”

God also reveals the bright possibility that is our gift of life, through His creation and power, when we rise in faith and put our trust in Him.

Job39:1-4, 26-30  God Speaks of Nature and Its Beings

“Do you know the time the mountain goats give birth?
Do you observe the calving of the deer?
2 Can you count the months they fulfill,
Or do you know the time they give birth?
3 They kneel down, they bring forth their young
They get rid of their labor pains.
4 Their offspring become strong, they grow up in the open field;
They leave and do not return to them.”

26 “Is it by your understanding that the hawk soars,
Stretching his wings toward the south?
27 Is it at your command that the eagle mounts up
And makes his nest on high?
28 On the cliff he dwells and lodges,
Upon the rocky crag, an inaccessible place,
29 From there he spies out food;
His eyes see it from afar.
30 His young ones also suck up blood;
And where the slain are, there is he.”

Job 41:1-11 God’s Power Shown in Creatures

“Can you draw out Leviathan with a fishhook?
Or press down his tongue with a cord?
2 Can you put a rope in his nose
Or pierce his jaw with a hook?
3 Will he make many supplications to you,
Or will he speak to you soft words?
4 Will he make a covenant with you?
Will you take him for a servant forever?
5 Will you play with him as with a bird,
Or will you bind him for your maidens?
6 Will the traders bargain over him?
Will they divide him among the merchants?
7 Can you fill his skin with harpoons,
Or his head with fishing spears?
8 Lay your hand on him;
Remember the battle; you will not do it again!
9 Behold, your expectation is false;
Will you be laid low even at the sight of him?
10 No one is so fierce that he dares to arouse him;
Who then is he that can stand before Me?
11Who has given to Me that I should repay him?
Whatever is under the whole heaven is Mine.”

Job 42:1-6 Job’s Confession

Then Job answered the LORD and said,
2 “I know that You can do all things,
And that no purpose of Yours can be thwarted.
3 Who is this that hides counsel without knowledge?
Therefore I have declared that which I did not understand,
Things too wonderful for me, which I did not know.
4 Hear, now, and I will speak;
I will ask You, and You instruct me.
5 I have heard of You by the hearing of the ear;
But now my eye sees You;
6 Therefore, I retract,
And I repent in dust and ashes.”

In all of humanity, what gift lies on this earth for every human, every creature, every piece of living matter?  In my deepest knowing of faith, this gift is the Holy Spirit for all of His creation.  Faith brings us to this answer when we embrace Him.

A Song of Cascades

Lily Of The Valley, a beautiful cascade of white bells that mist a heavenly scent in Spring.

There is a waterfall,
A song of cascades,

Water and droplets spraying,
Mists and moisture rising,
A heavenly creation,
A brightness so light, illuminating.

The force of its nature
Is a song in our hearts
That comes from God
When we rise in faith
To greet Him.

I saw the LORD’s Genesis
And a fire of opposing forces

Standing straight up
Next to His Holy Spirit.

Anger has burgeoned
Near His Holy Well
And causes dissent among humans
On His Earth, the material plane.

Greed for spiritual power,
Religious doctrine allowing affectation,
By politics, commercialism and opportunism,
Ignites strife, a wearisome bane.

His Holy Water
And the place It dwells
Is always and forever
For all of creation

No single entity
Religious or otherwise
Gets to claim it
In His name alone.

The serpent will slither
Causing hatred, shame
And continued separation
Again and again,

Until such time
That our LORD in Heaven
Brings us home,
Those of us who love Him,
Who rise in faith to greet Him,
To receive the Holy Spirit through Him.
