Paintings Of Power

Paintings of Power

Looking East over the Waterworks Hills, Missoula, Montana. May 2012  A NON-Partisan view through our natural world.

A foreground of simplicity
A cow pasture prairie
Owned by a proprietor
Used to feed many
And bring to those hiking
The joy of nature
In the peace
Of a Western setting.

A horizon of opportunity
A line up of markers….
To be used for the taking?
At one’s discretion?
At one’s disposal?
Who do they belong to?
The people?
Or one singular person?

These pine trees in the distance
Shrouded by fog….
Quiet latency
On the top of the mountain.
Illusionary forces,
Chess pieces for deployment or,
Just natural elements veiled
By a temporary weather pattern?

Power
An expression of multitudes,
Of minutes in hours,
Where time used
Is opportunity creation.
Power with or,
Power over,
That is the contemplation.

The first creates respect
And lifts the population.
The latter often times
Creates resentment
And breeds competition,
That results in class warfare and racism.
This situation is especially sensitive,
Where money and great influence beckon.

These paths of thought
Can be seen
So those with power
Should ponder carefully
Their strategy
In choosing to use
Their own desk
To drive their station.
