The Tainting Of Goodness

The Tainting Of Goodness

Three days ago
A tale unfolded.
It lit the sky
With clouds passing by.
It descended
With thunder and lightening,
Wind gusts, and hail stones.

The LORD dressed Himself
With the darkest of darks,
And the whitest of whites,
In clouds of moisture,
Darkness and light,
To give us a chance
To listen to Him,
To heal our earthly,
Do-gooding flights.

A plague’s growth is amplifying.
It feeds on our goodness efforts.
It despoils truth,
It taints compassion,
And attempts to veil righteousness
With egotistical vibrations.

The LORD is protection
For us in the sky,
Giving us warning
Of a dangerous time.

He is the contorted face
From on high,
Looking down
On Earth’s mountains,
Rolling fields and valleys.

I shot this photograph this past Monday evening as some storms were rolling through Western Montana. The protruding cloud has an appearance of a devilish face!  The head is tilted as it surveys the landscape.

A hint of a form,
A demon, a devil,
A Dracula, in white,
The face of false goodness
Breaths darkness into light.

It sends a dark shroud
Over Earth’s luminescence
And the manifestations
Of our true goodness efforts!

Two opposing cloud formations, one dark, one light.  The light cloud formation that appears just above the landscape gave me a sense of the goodness growing there, in the land.

Take care people!
Into the hearts
Of those of us
Who are vulnerable
To wants and desires,
Of the need to be accepted
Or determinedly driven
To successful pinnacles
Within competitive environments,
Lurks the prince of Sheol.

A subtle seducer,
Who preys on human weakness
And feelings vulnerable,
Who proposes a carrot
Of utmost satisfaction
Through those compulsions
To live goodness efforts
By less worthy endeavors.

The consideration is,
What intent lies within
Our machinations?
If we create goodness
From goodness,
Then a vibration
Of sweet clarity
Rings in all newness.

If I am not mistaken, this wild flowering shrub on the forested trail edges and lower landscapes where the forest meets the prairie grasses, a viburnum genus of the Northwest?

If we create goodness
From deception, manipulation,
Control, seduction, oppression,
Or the twisting and bending
Of truth’s wisdom,
Then what new vibration have we?
Clarity of light
That has become uninspiring,
Diluted and misrepresented
In myriad confusions
And selfish gratifications.

Where are we then,
Deluded into an unconscious believing
That goodness results from darkness illusions
Because we birthed it
From less worthy intention?

To Him we must listen
To discern these vibrations
In our family and work relationships,
In our giving and volunteering,
In the managing
Of our do-good organizations.

The consequence becomes
A deflation in good relating,
A reduction in commitment,
A lack of enthusiasm,
To live helpful efforts,
When we allow ourselves
To be vulnerable
To the seduction of our ego,
And caught in the sleep
Of self deception.

Mixed in with the luminescence
Of His true goodness
Skulks a crawling dark pestilence
Called “Opportunism.”
It’s running rampant,
Flagrant and aggressive
Due to a poor world economy,
That has left many of us
Hungry and helpless.

Is there an antidote
To this human sickness?
Yes!  A prayer of faith
To God’s heavenly kingdom.
Here are the words
Of His loving encouragement:

Psalm 46 God, The Refuge Of His People

8  Come, behold the works of the LORD,
Who has wrought desolations in the earth,

9  He makes wars to cease to the ends of the earth;
He breaks the bow and cuts the spear in two;
He burns the chariots with fire,

10  “Cease striving and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth.”

11  The LORD of hosts is with us;
the God of Jacob is our stronghold.

1  God is our refuge and strength
A very present help in trouble.

2  Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change
And though the mountains slip into the heart of the sea;

3  Though its waters roar and foam,
Though the mountains quake at its swelling pride.

4  There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God,
The holy dwelling places of the Most High.

5  God is in the midst of her, she will not be moved;
God will help her when morning dawns.

The river is God’s light of goodness.
Glory to You, LORD.
