To The Ages Of Life

It must be hell
Getting old,

Doctor visits, dentures
Depends and…

Whatever else.

When we get old,
Our true character comes out.

Our aches and pains
Hinder the amount
Of our ability

To give patience
And to be patient
In relationships,
Round about.

When we get old,
Our mouth speaks words
We don’t realize we’ve spoken,

Until we understand
What we’ve said
By responses, or lack thereof

From other’s wind
We’ve broken.

When we get old,
Our ego takes control
And compassion has exited
Through the hole

In our pocket.

It must be hell getting old,
But when we pray,

He makes known…
And doesn’t the LORD
Give us this….

The gift of opportunity
To give each other
Compassion and patience,

While we face each other’s
True character accoutrements.

God bless on this Wednesday evening….
