L’Etude Au Restaurant

A white suit

Sat quietly resolute,

On a bar stool

In the restaurant.

Sunshine glowed

From the clothes,

As she sat and watched

From the other end

Of the dining room.

She thought…

She recognized a friend,

But when she turned

And looked again,

An apparition,

Must have been.

Empty was the stool,

And beyond the window,

A cold wind

Caused snowflakes to swirl.

So she turned her attention,

To the birthday party

She was immersed in,

Reflecting…,

On a chance that was….,

Amid the dance,

Of knives and forks

Waltzing,

With the clinking of glass.
